Storm’s Wellbeing Journey

Storm has completed the Mid-Sussex wellbeing service and has been happy to share some of her experiences with us and the positive results she has seen since taking part.

What did you enjoy about the programme?

The programme was great at keeping me accountable. Both the fortnightly consultations with my coach and the weekly online courses were really helpful. Whenever I plateaued, I found reflecting on the online material and discussing any issues with my coach always got me back to progressing. I was sceptical at first but the vast amount of information I was given and my coach were really beneficial. Over time the course changed my lifestyle significantly for the better.

What changes did you make to your lifestyle?

I am now looking at what is on my plate. The amount of vegetables I am eating has gone up. I am not just looking at the calories but the quality of the healthy foods when eating at home and in a restaurant. Moreover, I am able to listen to my body’s hunger signals better than beforehand. As a result, I no longer have a big breakfast, lunch and dinner as I am satisfied with one big meal.

It is the same situation with puddings. Rather than having a large pudding I am having smaller portions. I am now finding that I enjoy these much more. My coach has been great at instilling in me the importance of sustainability when it comes to this change in lifestyle. I feel that I have achieved a sustainable change as I lean towards more healthier foods but am not too rigid.

What challenges did you face with the programme, and how did you overcome them?

Certain health issues such as gall stones and work commitments, including overnight shifts at the airport, were not easy issues to overcome. They definitely set me back. However, with my coach’s help, each rebound back into the healthy lifestyle has become easier and easier.

What changes have you seen in any measurements that have been taken?

I have lost weight and feel a lot healthier.

Do you have any advice for those starting the programme?

This programme has helped me become a better and healthier version of myself. As a wife and mother I have seen my healthy lifestyle influencing my husband and children. We now enjoy vegetables on the table as a family. I would recommend this programme to as it does assist you in creating a healthy lifestyle.
