Mediterranean May

Welcome to Mediterranean May!

We will now be dedicating each month of the year to a particular topic that is proven to improve overall health and wellbeing and reduce the risk of developing non-communicable diseases such as Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

We have decided to dedicate this month to the ‘Mediterranean Diet’ or more applicably, the ‘Mediterranean Lifestyle’. This approach is advocated by the NHS, Public Health England, and Diabetes UK as there is overwhelming evidence to support its multiple health benefits when implemented correctly. More information on the Mediterranean Diet and government dietary recommendations can be found here.

The Mediterranean lifestyle is about more than just what food you consume, it incorporates all aspects of health and wellbeing that lead to long-term life satisfaction. This includes being physically active, cooking from fresh, being an active member of your community and sitting down with your friends and family and taking time to enjoy your evening meal. All of these activities can reduce stress, improve sleep and of course allow you to shed some pounds and improve your health.

We look forward to sharing with you over the next month a wealth of knowledge and practical skills inspired by the Mediterranean.
