Module Summary 3 – Getting active

Getting active

Sedentary behaviour occurs whilst sitting or lying down. During this time the body uses very little energy, so the more sedentary you are, the less energy your body uses.

Too much sedentary behaviour can have a serious impact on our health. In order to be less sedentary, we need to increase the time spent doing physical activity in daily life and/or undertake structured exercise activities.

Aim to perform 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity physical activity,  spread out over at least three days of the week.

If you are new to exercise, a good idea would be to split the recommended 150 minutes of exercise a week, into manageable bouts of 1-10 minutes each time

Barriers to physical activity can be overcome! Choose activities you enjoy and plan your time.
